Truths About Your Hero

All of the following must be true about your hero and / or your team:

• You are an adult. Your age is otherwise open.

• A few years ago, magic suddenly woke in you and gave you power no one around you had. You have no idea how or why.

• When the magic woke in you, so did a strong recurring memory of several other people: a face, a place, mannerisms.

• Over the years, you found some of the people from these memories and they became your current team.

• As a team, you have been hunting and killing monsters for a few months.

• Your team is built on loyalty to each other: your teammates rely on you, and you rely on them.

Your Hero Build

• You must build based on RAW, first level, modified by the options laid out in the House Rules document and the Truths immediately above.

• Within those constraints, you may build your character however you like.

• It is recommended that you collaborate with your fellow players to build a well-balanced team that works together, not only in class and role but also in skills and languages.

Your Backstory

• You know almost nothing about this world yet, so keep your hero’s backstory brief and flexible at first and expand it over time with the Director.

• An acceptable backstory at character creation needs two items: 1) the hero’s primary motivation, why they do what they do; 2) one short sentence that is a fact about your hero. It need not be the most important fact; this fact and the motivation together define the hero’s personality.

Questions About Your Hero

You should be prepared to answer the following questions at the start of the first session:

• What do you look like? Sound like? Smell like?

• What do you envision your role on the team to be?

• What was it like or what happened when magic awoke in you?

• What is one thing that makes you different from anyone else?
