Hero Creation
Rules for hero creation
Truths About Your Hero
All of the following must be true about your hero and / or your team:
You are an adult. Your age is otherwise open.
A few years ago, magic suddenly woke in you and gave you power no one around you had - the things that make you a hero. You have no idea how or why.
When the magic woke in you, so did a strong recurring memory of several other people - a face, a place, mannerisms, etc.
Over the years, you found some of the people from these memories and they become your current team.
As a team, you have been hunting and killing monsters for a few months.
Your team's foundation is loyalty to each other. Your teammates can count on you. You can count on them.
Your Hero Build
You must build based on RAW, first level, modified by the options laid out in the House Rules document and the Truths immediately above.
Within those constraints, you may build your character however you like.
It is recommended that you collaborate with your fellow players to build a well-balanced and synergistic team, not only on the axes of class and role, but also skills and languages.
Your Backstory
Wise players will realize they know almost nothing about this world. They build their hero's backstory to initially be brief and flexible and expand upon them over time, in collaboration with the Director.
A perfectly acceptable backstory at character creation only needs two items: 1) A statement of the hero's primary motivation - why do they do what they do? 2) A single, short sentence that is a fact about your hero. It doesn't need to be the most important fact, though the idea is to use this fact and the motivation to define the core of the hero's personality.
Questions About Your Hero
You should be prepared to answer the following questions at the start of the first session:
What do you look like? Sound like? Smell like?
What do you envision your role on the team to be?
What was it like or what happened when magic awoke in you?
What is one thing that makes you different from anyone else?
