The Wall crosses the narrowest point of the Pallas peninsula. It follows the terrain and runs about 340 km. It is built to stop monsters that survive siege engines and use magic.

The wall detects, delays, and, ultimately, channels monsters into killing zones. Its contingent of twenty-five to thirty thousand soldiers is spread thin across its length. The wall forces every incursion into a small number of killing grounds, and Pallas has spent twelve centuries shaping those grounds.

Monsters get through regularly. Pallas stays safe through the constant effort and sacrifice of the wall's soldiers. Its people argue over whether the cost is worth it.

Construction of the wall took about a century and maintenance continues permanently. Records of the wall's construction survive, and some families trace their ancestors to the people who laid its foundations.
