08 Harpa (Women’s Month / Spring)

Tower -> Forest

  • The ravens and Mimir sent you to Gwydion’s home turf this time, and it’s a corrupted forest.

  • There is a fog above the trees that’s constantly lit up by energies -brown, green, gray, and purple - striking through it.

  • Nothing normal / natural can live in the corrupted areas of the forest, and the corruption continues to spread.

  • Traveling closer to the ground, you encountered a vague, blurry vision which Gin described as a replay of a past event. Essentially beings fighting each other.

  • Travelling deeper into the forest, you saw a second vision, this one with a little more clarity, Daconians fighting elementals and Treants but you could not tell what type of Draconians.

  • You came upon an area protected by diversion magic, which you easily identified and pushed through.

Forest Sanctuary

  • This area is a sanctuary, protected from the corruption by a Treant that Gwydion knows, The Warmth of Shade in Summer.

  • The place is sanctuary to about 30 elves, three of whom Gwydion knows from before his adventuring days:

    • Tyswo, a professional acquaintance, is the nominal leader of these refugees and holding things together through force of will.

    • Rhegyth, a respected elder, more frail than when Gwydion last knew them but still super sharp.

    • Cillyv, a child when Gwydion knew her, now a young adult.

  • Interesting among the others is an infant obviously born after the corruption took hold.

  • Examining the infant told you that she’s suffering from the corruption as well, and will not live to adulthood without intervention.

  • Information you gathered from the refugees and The Warmth of Shade in Summer:

    • Nobody leaves the sanctuary. They know they’ll die.

    • The sanctuary area is shrinking. Warmth can’t hold the corruption back any more.

    • Warmth is becoming corrupted itself, cannot stop it, and doesn’t know where it’s coming from.

    • With the shrinking sanctuary, the food supply is dwindling. The refugees face starvation or death from the corruption without help.

    • Warmth is committed to protecting the refugees for as long as it can.

  • You fed the refugees the stack of sandwiches then promptly sent them through Gin’s portal to near the tower, which became painted very colorfully with sandwich remnants upon the refugees’ arrival.

  • The Warmth of Shade in Summer remains at the sanctuary.

Back Into the Forest -> Krag's Camp

  • Returning to the forest to find the source of corruption, you encountered another vision, this one clearer still: The forces are Earth against the combined Shadow and forest creatures. There are Valkyrie on Shadow’s side. Shadow is nominally winning.

  • After a bit of travel, you happened upon a camp of a bunch of Kobolds and Krag, the Earth Draconian, who you encountered out on the savannah.

  • Krag was experimenting with a ritual, drawing corruption and life force from a Dryad (killing it in the process) and then turning around to attack a shadow-creature with it, and wanting to know the effect it had on the shadow creature.

  • You decided to intervene with violence.

  • You made short work of the kobolds, but Krag is pretty tough. Things started really going your way once you winded Krag and he tried to flee up into the canopy. That energetic mist blasted him and sent him tumbling back to the ground, where he surrendered.

  • Ulf used his magic key to force Krag to answer 3 questions honestly (to the best of his knowledge, of course):

  1. Where is the Shadow Monolith? Krag laughed at you in response to this one, saying that if you’re the best hope the other side has and you haven’t figured out there’s a monolith right under your nose, you’ll never win. Anyway, Shadow Monastery.

  2. How to do the ritual? He said his notes in the tent are complete and someone skilled in rituals and magic (like Gin and I think Ulf) will figure it out pretty quickly.

  3. I don’t remember the 3rd question. He didn’t know the answer to it.

  • Then you properly murdered him.
